POEMS
A Friend Like You

Brian Wilson / Steve Kalinich
from the duet of Brian Wilson and Paul McCartney

As I look back at my life
As I move on through the year
Every time I reminisce
One thing rings loud and clear

I'm so grateful
A friend like you
You're the one
Who helps me make it through
All my dreams and
All my hopes to satisfy

I was lost
What could I do?
None of my wishes
Ever came through
You were there
You were there for me

A friend like you
A friend like you
You simplify me
You stand beside me

A friend like you
A friend like you
You mystify me
You lullaby me

You have courage
You risk it all
Pick me up and
Every time I fall
You inspire me
Every day of my life

I was broken
So torn in two
You showed me kindness
Finally you broke through
All my problems
All my troubles just dissolve

A friend like you
A friend like you
You are patient
You are thoughtful

A friend like you
A friend like you
You're so tender
You're so precious

I was crushed
Against the wall
I turned to you
I felt so small
So unselfish
So warm and caring are you

You have courage
You risk it all
Pick me up and
Every time I fall
You inspire me
Every day of my life

As I look back at my life
As I move on through the years
Every time I reminisce
One thing rings out loud and clear

Stillness weeps with joy
energy emerges
Each time A sparrow sings
Under every rock there is a rainbow
Each new day calmness enhances the perceptions Serenty silences anxiety and inner turmoil
Peace reigns
Forgiveness arouses the dormant
and slumbering soul
Restores the balance
Brings all into harmony
Love  is the grand graceful master
Inner radiance makes the possible more creative
Lean on the vitality of each new day
Sadness can be our teacher
If we sit with it and wait for it to teach us
and transform us into new beings
Our origin is Love
Our moment is now
Forgetting the past errors of our journey
We rise up to face the challenge
Of the immeiate circumstances
That we experience today
Our hearts are open
Our souls are ripe
Ready to bare fruit
Tenderness enriches our limitations
Lets us weave our own destiny
With a guide that never fails
Longing ceases
One rests in the almighty Love
Author of every word ever written  or spoken
Through the chain of all existence
Through all beings
We are included in the equation
Cherish the everlasting wonder
Ordained by Divine Love
The right To Health
Yield to Love at every point
Be renewed
Today is your special day.

From the Tao Te Ching
written by Lao-Tzu

31. Armies

Armies are tools of violence;
They cause men to hate and fear.
The sage will not join them.
His purpose is creation;
Their purpose is destruction.

Weapons are tools of violence,
Not of the sage;
He uses them only when there is no choice,
And then calmly, and with tact,
For he finds no beauty in them.

Whoever finds beauty in weapons
Delights in the slaughter of men;
And who delights in slaughter
Cannot content himself with peace.

So slaughters must be mourned
And conquest celebrated with a funeral
